Perfect Imperfections :-)

Wendi adjusted her scarf around her neck, this time with a firm grip and tightening the knot. She felt breathless, and for a moment, she thought it could be a good idea to end the agony. She was tired of hiding her blemishes.

She stretched the corners of her lips and tried to smile, recalling the crazy-sweet memories. It was the last day of reunion trek at the Mount Everest basecamp. She was going to miss the company of childhood friends. And tonight, Edwin had invited her.

Edwin smiled and brought her to the table. On the table, there was a guitar, coffee, a musical notation paper, a notebook of childhood doodles, and pics.

“I wrote a new song, tell me how it is?”

Edwin started singing. The lyrics and the chords of the guitar engrossed her.

“I found a love for me
Darling just dive right in
And follow my lead
Well I found a girl beautiful and sweet
I never knew you were the someone waiting for me
‘Cause we were just kids when we fell in love.”

All of a sudden, Edwin untied her scarf and started kissing her blemishes and whispered.

“I love every damn thing about you.”

The heartbeats raced, love had overflown, and eyes welled up with tears.

He started singing, now the favourite song of both.

“Baby, I’m dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight.”

“I have faith in what I see
Now I know I have met an angel in person
And she looks perfect
I don’t deserve this, You look perfect tonight.”
